List of 10 players who are likely to leave Kaizer Chiefs

With a new coach coming in next season, expect wholesale changes of players for Kaizer Chiefs.

Amakhosi have gone almost 10 years without tasting any silverware despite changing coaches almost every season. Stuart Baxter is the last coach to lift a trophy during his first stint in 2015. The Englishman returned to the club in 2021 but his tenure was shortlived as he failed to replicate his previous success.

Kaizer Chiefs to release players end of the month

Having had six coaches in the past four seasons, Amakhosi are desperate to turn things around. The 2024/25 campaign gives the Soweto Giants another opportunity to rebuild with a top coach. Last season, Kaizer Chiefs brought in almost 10 players but none of them made a huge impact.

With the season over, some players are out on contract by the end of this month. The Kaizer Chiefs players expected to be released are; Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, Edmilson Dove, George Matlou, Sifiso Hlanti and Itumeleng Khune. Christian Saile, Jasond Gonzalez and Happy Mashiane might also make way.

Amakhosi and Khune part ways or?

The club confirmed last month that Itumeleng Khune won’t return as a player next season. The 36-year-old goalkeeper played his last match for the club in May. He is among the seven Kaizer Chiefs players whose contract expired at the end of this month. Khune has disputed retirement rumours and is still keen to play for another two or three years even if it’s not in Amakhosi colours.

Another top player set to leave is Keagan Dolly. The former Bafana Bafana midfielder has struggled with injuries during his three-year stay with the Glamour Boys. His contract expires in a few weeks but reports indicated that the star might be offered a new deal but with a pay cut.

With Nasreddine Nabi tipped to take over as the new Kaizer Chiefs coach, it might be the perfect time for the club to cut players and reshape their squad.
