Cape Town – Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka International Airport have been recognized among the top getaways globally at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
Cape Town International Airport earned three significant awards: Best Airport in Africa, Best Airport Staff Service in Africa, and Cleanest Airport in Africa.
King Shaka International Airport in Durban was acknowledged as the Best Regional Airport in Africa, reaffirming its position as a premier regional hub dedicated to providing seamless and customer-centric airport experiences.
The 2025 Skytrax awards ceremony took place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, during the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Madrid, Spain.
“These awards are based on feedback from passengers representing over 100 nationalities who evaluated their experiences at more than 575 airports around the world,” said Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) CEO Mpumi Mpofu. “This reflects the commitment of our teams and the trust that passengers continue to place in our airports.”
“Our aim is to offer a seamless, safe, and enjoyable travel experience to everyone passing through our airports. These accolades validate that we are on the right track and motivate us to keep raising the bar.”
In another celebration of excellence within the ACSA network, the InterContinental Hotel at O.R. Tambo International Airport was awarded Best Airport Hotel in Africa, highlighting ACSA’s dedication to providing complete travel experiences that go beyond the terminal.
Skytrax conducts the world’s largest annual airport customer satisfaction survey across 575 airports in 100 countries.
Passengers assessed their experiences at more than 575 airports worldwide between August 2024 and February 2025.
The survey evaluates critical performance indicators throughout the entire passenger journey – from check-in and arrivals to transfers, shopping, security, and gate departure.
“ACSA expresses its gratitude to every traveler who shared their experiences and cast their votes,” Mpofu stated.
“This vote of confidence reinforces our commitment to acquiring, developing, and managing world-class airports that not only provide exceptional customer experiences but also foster socio-economic development in South Africa.”
