This week, the National Prosecuting Authority formally withdrew the murder charge against Khumalo, nearly two years after the incident occurred.
In July 2023, Khumalo and his production crew were involved in a confrontation in Katlehong with alleged drug dealer Robert “Kicks” Varrie.
The suspected drug dealer passed away after being interrogated during the filming of a Sizok’thola episode.
Varrie was pronounced dead at Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Vosloorus, resulting in Khumalo facing murder accusations.
With the murder charges lifted, Khumalo is set to resume his role at Moja LOVE as the host for Season 4 of Sizok’thola.
“I am thankful to be back at Moja LOVE, a place I consider my home,” Khumalo shared.
“This time has allowed me to reflect, and I eagerly anticipate reconnecting with our wonderful viewers and showcasing my talents to Mzansi.”
Livhuwani Dagada, head of Moja LOVE, confirmed the return of the popular host.
“Xolani is celebrated for his authentic and engaging on-air presence, and he has cultivated a strong connection with viewers across the nation,” Dagada stated.
The channel head noted that Khumalo’s comeback will enhance Sizok’thola’s efforts to raise awareness of the drug crisis and its devastating impact on communities.
Khumalo’s return is expected to “bring the heat” against drug dealers through Sizok’thola, which aims to combat crime and address the issue of illicit drugs in communities.
