Duba Stays Resolute: “I’m Not Going Anywhere” Amid Transfer Rumors
Wandile Duba, the forward for Kaizer Chiefs, has reassured supporters that he is committed to the club, despite a screenshot circulating on social media implying a possible departure.
The screenshot raised alarms among Chiefs fans, especially with the transfer window still open.
During an event on Wednesday, where the Nedbank Cup champions, Chiefs and Nedbank, inaugurated a new sports court at Phulong Secondary School in Kwa-Thema, Springs, Duba quickly clarified his position.
“[Laughing], I’m not going anywhere; I’m with the team,” Duba said with a smile, confirming his commitment.
Additionally, fans and even his coach, Nasreddine Nabi, have expressed concerns regarding Duba’s assertiveness during games, with videos emerging online depicting him stepping on opponents.

Nabi had previously expressed worries about the young striker’s mental well-being.
However, Duba remains unfazed. “It doesn’t really bother me,” he remarked when asked if his aggression might be seen as brutality.
“That’s the approach the coach wants us to adopt. It’s just the reactions, people coming to your account, making threats, all that nonsense.”
He admitted that negativity on social media has affected him. “In the last match [when Chiefs defeated Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium], my mindset wasn’t optimal, and I avoided looking at social media.”
Duba, known for scoring the crucial goal in the Nedbank Cup semifinal against Mamelodi Sundowns before Chiefs claimed victory over Orlando Pirates in the final, noted that social media comments can occasionally tempt him to respond.
“I don’t let those things [social media posts] frustrate me too much,” Duba expressed. “I typically talk to my brother; he always helps me stay grounded. At times, I feel like replying or sending a message back when I see negative remarks about me.”
Since his promotion in January 2023, Duba has featured in 43 matches across all competitions, netting six goals and providing four assists.
