Fuming Bellamy Says ‘I Hope to See You Again’ After Noticing Ex-Premier League Manager’s Gesture During Wales Friendly Loss

CRAIG BELLAMY is calling for a World Cup rematch with Canada, expressing frustration over Jesse Marsch’s early celebrations during their friendly match victory, which ended before the final whistle.

Wales faced their second defeat in 12 outings under Bellamy’s management, as Derek Cornelius’ free-kick secured a win for Canada, co-hosting the tournament next summer in Swansea.

Bellamy criticized Marsch’s conduct during stoppage time while Wales was still striving for a draw.

He said: “I’m genuinely upset because I dislike losing more than I relish winning.

“Seeing him (Marsch) celebrate at the end made me think, ‘I hope to meet you at the World Cup. I hope our paths cross again.’

“However, I must also show grace. Jesse was congratulating his staff before the match concluded. I need to get used to that.”

Bellamy fielded a mixed squad, making eight alterations from their 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Kazakhstan last Thursday and granting debuts to Ronan Kpakio, Joel Colwill, and Kai Andrews.

He added: “I need to evaluate the larger pool of players. We must embrace youth as we can’t depend on the older players.

“That’s our current reality. I can’t overly rely on specific positions because our choices are limited, so we must nurture young talent.

“I’m very aware of this importance. I want our nation to prosper for years to come, so I must give these players opportunities.”

“I don’t distribute caps easily. (Ethan) Ampadu is unavailable, (Josh) Sheehan is out, and Charlie Crew must play as he’s next in line. I believe I’ve gleaned insights and assessed our status.”

Wales’ forthcoming challenge is a friendly match against England at Wembley on October 9, followed by a crucial qualifying match against Group J favorites Belgium in Cardiff four days later.

Fulham’s Harry Wilson noted: “We need to be at our best when competing against higher-ranked teams.

“Perfection in our performance is vital because one mistake can prove costly.

“That’s what happened with the free-kick.

“Next month is crucial for us. These are the matches you aspire to play in.

“Confronting England away at Wembley, everyone acknowledges they are an exceptional team with remarkable players. It will be a major challenge for us.

“Then we have one of those special evenings in Cardiff, with the Red Wall supporting us in a vital qualifying match.

“We are filled with confidence and ready to accomplish something extraordinary with the fans behind us.”
