Premier League Clubs Poised to Bid for Harry Kane as England Captain Receives Well-Deserved Recognition
Five years back, Harry Kane had one of the most extraordinary individual seasons in Premier League history.
The England captain clinched both the Golden Boot for being the top scorer and the Playmaker of the Season accolade for being the leading assist-maker, achieving 37 direct goal contributions in just 35 appearances.

Incredibly, this milestone was achieved under a manager renowned for his defensive approach, the infamous Jose Mourinho.
However, did Kane receive the Footballer of the Year award from our so-called ‘experts’ in the press? Unfortunately, no.
Surely, he must have been honored by his fellow professionals with the PFA Player of the Year award, right?
Again, no.
For a decade, Kane showcased his exceptional individual talent while frequently shouldering the burden of a struggling Tottenham team.
Here’s the bottom line: Kane is close to becoming the greatest goalscorer in English football history, yet he remains significantly underappreciated.
During his time with England in March, Kane voiced feeling ‘taken for granted’ and remarked that his scoring feats have become ‘boring’ to some observers.

He’s right; only when he’s no longer around will his true value be fully acknowledged in England.
Kane has already registered 13 goals in seven matches for Bayern Munich this season, with eight of those coming in four Bundesliga fixtures.

No other English centre-forward has scored more than once in the Premier League this season.
This is primarily due to a shortage of English centre-forwards in the top-flight.
Without Kane, England’s chances of securing the World Cup next summer would be slim.
Kane’s hat-trick against Hoffenheim this weekend brought his total career goals to 468 for club and country.
He has surpassed the career total of the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer, Jimmy Greaves, who netted 464 goals.
Kane is 59 goals ahead of Alan Shearer and 60 ahead of Dixie Dean.
In an England shirt, he leads Wayne Rooney by 21 goals, with 74 goals in fewer appearances.
Last Wednesday, this so-called ‘flat-track bully’ scored twice against Chelsea, raising his tally against the world champions to ten.
He also holds the record for most goals in North London derby history with 14 goals.
Although some criticize his record with England, Kane is a World Cup Golden Boot winner and has scored more times in major tournaments than any other player for the Three Lions.
He has scored four goals against Germany, surpassing even Geoff Hurst, and has three goals each against France and Italy.
So why is Kane undervalued? Perhaps it’s a consequence of a social media culture that favors negativity. It may also arise from a widespread bias against Spurs.

Or maybe it’s simply that Kane lacks the flamboyance and charm that some favor, despite being a genuinely nice individual who has become far more engaging since his transfer to Bayern.
In an era when football is inundated with stats, the English player who excels in the most crucial aspect—goalscoring—still isn’t fully acknowledged for his contributions.
Last season, he was even labeled a ‘flat-track bully’ in Germany, which was surprising given his hat-trick in his inaugural Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund.
Moreover, he netted three goals against Bayer Leverkusen in a Champions League match and kicked off this season with a hat-trick against RB Leipzig.
Kane may not have scored against Andorra for England or in Bayern’s 10-0 rout of Auckland City at the Club World Cup, so the narrative of a frontrunner should be dismissed.
As for any critiques regarding his penalty-taking skills, any Englishman who experienced the ’90s and ’00s should value an England player’s proficiency from the spot.
Kane’s contract with Bayern extends until 2027, hinting at a potential return to England next summer, which could result in a transfer fee for the club.
Clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle have splurged on lesser-quality centre-forwards this year.
All should keep a close eye on Kane’s situation, even as he turns 33 next summer, though a return to Spurs is still the most likely outcome.
Until then, we will continue to admire Kane’s accomplishments with Bayern. As he embarks on his third season there, he is just two goals short of reaching the century mark for the club.
Kane ranks alongside Erling Haaland, Greaves, Shearer, Dean, and every other great scorer, save for Pele, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
He truly is that exceptional. One day, we might finally recognize it.
