Moodie Eager for London Return as Springboks Pursue Rugby Championship Glory
Springbok utility back Canan Moodie shares his enthusiasm for drawing on previous experiences at Allianz Stadium as South Africa prepares to face Argentina in their final Rugby Championship match next Saturday in London.
The Springboks head into this pivotal match confident after their commanding 67-30 victory over Argentina at Kings Park Stadium in Durban.
This win catapulted Rassie Erasmus’ team to the top of the Rugby Championship table with 15 points, just in front of the All Blacks.
Memories of Allianz Stadium: Conquering the All Blacks in 2023
Moodie reminisces about special moments at Allianz Stadium, where he played outside centre in the Springboks’ memorable 35-7 win over the All Blacks during a Rugby World Cup warm-up match in 2023.
“Playing there is always extraordinary,” Moodie noted. “We have fantastic memories from that match. Nevertheless, we understand Argentina will come out strong—they’re a fiercely passionate nation, and we must not take them lightly.”

Moodie almost capped off that unforgettable day with a try after making an interception and charging ahead, but the score was disallowed due to an infringement in the sequence.
Strong South African Support in London
The Springboks can expect an electrifying atmosphere in London, where a large South African expatriate community passionately rallies behind the team.
“We need to remain focused on our objective and avoid distractions. We are committed to delivering a strong performance on Saturday,” Moodie asserted.
Springboks’ Quest to Retain the Rugby Championship
The Boks’ critical bonus-point win over Argentina in Durban followed a day where the All Blacks bested Australia at Eden Park. To secure the Rugby Championship, South Africa requires another bonus-point victory in London—or relies on the Wallabies upsetting New Zealand in Perth.
With momentum on their side, Erasmus’ men are determined to finish strong and reclaim the trophy once again.
