Motorcyclist in Critical Condition Following Hammersdale Collision
Durban — A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries following a multi-vehicle accident on the N3 Durban-bound carriageway close to the Hammersdale offramp late Friday morning, 14 August 2026.
According to emergency services, the incident occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m., prompting ALS Paramedics from the Cato Ridge operation to respond swiftly.
Upon their arrival, paramedics discovered the biker lying on the roadway with severe injuries from the collision.
Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, indicated that Advanced Life Support teams worked diligently to stabilize the injured biker at the scene.
The wounded biker was airlifted by a Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a level-one trauma facility in Pietermaritzburg.
Authorities announced that the N3 highway was temporarily closed to facilitate the helicopter’s landing.
While no other injuries were reported from the incident, traffic along this busy national route has been significantly impacted.
Motorists are advised to steer clear of the area until the road is cleared.
