Ford Mustang, Everest, Ranger, Wildtrak, EcoSport, Nissan Qashqai, and Citroën Recall Announcements

Johannesburg – The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced the recall of Ford Mustang, Everest, Ranger, EcoSport, Ranger Wildtrak, Nissan Qashqai, and Citroen C4, DS4, and DS5 vehicles.

In a statement on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, the NCC indicated that these product recalls were in response to notifications from the suppliers.

Ford Mustang, Everest, Ranger, And Transit Custom Vehicles

“Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (PTY) Ltd (Ford) has initiated a recall for specific 2021 to 2025 model year Mustang, Ford Everest, Ranger, and Transit Custom vehicles available throughout South Africa,” stated the NCC.

“The infotainment system of the affected vehicles may freeze, followed by a black screen and a system reboot. If this happens while reversing, the rear-view camera may freeze, be absent, or display delays.

“A frozen rear-view camera display when in reverse may create an inaccurate representation of the vehicle’s surroundings, increasing the risk of an accident.”

Ford Mustang, Everest, Ranger, And EcoSport

Ford has notified the NCC that repeated short ignition cycles (the time between turning the key on and off) could lead to errors in the SYNC system, resulting in system instability or failure to retain specific settings between ignition cycles.

This issue may cause an intermittent blank screen while in reverse or the rear-view image to remain visible after the reverse driving has concluded.

The affected models were manufactured from 2019 to 2023.

Ford Ranger Wildtrak

Ford Motors is recalling the 2025 Ford Ranger Wildtrak vehicles due to the internal dimensions of the transmission main valve body not aligning with engineering specifications.

Drivers may experience a lack of reverse motion when the vehicle is in reverse gear.

Additionally, when the gear selector is set to reverse or neutral, the vehicle may unexpectedly move forward.

In such cases, the malfunction indicator light and wrench light will illuminate on the instrument panel.

An unexpected vehicle movement heightens the risk of an accident.

Nissan Qashqai

Nissan is recalling the Qashqai models sold from September 2021 to April 2024.

The manufacturer has found that the HR13- Non-Alis – EGI Harness Battery connection may have been incorrectly assembled during production.

This situation may result in a loose harness retaining nut.

Under certain driving conditions, this could cause a significant increase in resistance.

In extreme cases, if the vehicle is operated in this state, there is a risk of excessive heat build-up.

Citroen C4, DS4 And DS5

Stellantis South Africa (Pty) Ltd is recalling Citroen C4, DS4, and DS5 vehicles sold between 2009 and 2016 due to concerns with the driver airbag.

The driver’s airbag inflator may rupture during deployment, which could send metal fragments into the vehicle cabin, posing a severe risk of injury or death to the driver and passengers.

Owners of affected vehicles are urged to bring their vehicles to the nearest authorized dealership.
