Cardoso Commends Teamwork and Young Talent After Sundowns’ Win Over Magesi

Mamelodi Sundowns’ head coach Miguel Cardoso expressed his joy over the team’s performance after their victory against Magesi in the Betway Premiership match held at Seshego Stadium on Wednesday evening.

With contributions from Jayden Adams and Peter Shalulile, the Brazilians claimed a 2-0 win, advancing to third place with seven points.

Cardoso began the game with three young talents: Gomolemo Kekana, Kutlwano Letlhaku, and Siyabonga Mabena, praising their efforts despite expecting a gradual start.

“At times, the bees’ efforts in the first half help in harvesting the honey later,” Cardoso commented on SuperSport TV after the match.

“Teamwork is crucial. Given that three young players were making their debut at this level, a slower pace was anticipated.

“Nonetheless, it’s all about teamwork, and we knew we had quality players to impact the match. We realized the importance of making gradual adjustments, considering the various situations and tactical setups during the game.”

The Portuguese coach conveyed his satisfaction with the players’ response, particularly the young trio.

“They performed well, and I’m genuinely pleased with the collective effort from everyone.”

Looking ahead to the next match against Orlando Pirates on Saturday at Lucas Moripe Stadium for the second leg of the MTN8 semifinal, Cardoso emphasized the necessity of resilience and mental strength.

“We recognize the importance of being resilient and mentally prepared. We must engage in every match with full energy to achieve the results that move us forward,” he stated.

“We hope to see our Masandana family filling the stadium, as their support will undoubtedly boost our spirits.”

“Just like today, we felt their backing, and we are resolved to perform strongly on Saturday. It promises to be an exciting match.”
