The rising UK star will step back into the cage on Saturday morning as part of a thrilling UFC Fight Night event in Shanghai.
Kavanagh, training with Great Britain Top Team, has faced tough rivals in his rapid ascent within MMA since joining the organization last November, battling promising fighters like Jose Ochoa and Felipe dos Santos.
With both challenges behind him, he is eager to secure a victory against the experienced Johnson to fast-track his journey to the elite of the 125-pound class.
When discussing potential matchups with those in the top-15 soon, he expressed confidence to SunSport: “Yeah, I definitely think so.”
“The flyweight division is continuously evolving. After this fight, I aim to take on those ranked in the top 15 or even the top ten.”
While enthusiastic about facing notable names, Kavanagh remains flexible about who his next opponent might be.
He remarked: “I firmly believe in God’s plan. Whatever is meant to happen, I will embrace it.”
UK and European MMA fans are already well-acquainted with Kavanagh’s remarkable talents, as he showcased them in Cage Warriors over the years.
