King Misuzulu Zwelithini Hosts Royal Family Gathering, Urges Unity
Pongola – In light of the Supreme Court of Appeal’s (SCA) decision affirming Misuzulu kaZwelithini as the King of the Zulu Nation, the monarch has called a meeting with the Royal Family to discuss the next steps forward.
Earlier this week, on Monday, 6 October 2025, the SCA reached a unanimous verdict, reversing a 2023 Pretoria High Court ruling that had deemed President Cyril Ramaphosa’s acknowledgment of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini as unlawful.
The court upheld the appeal presented by both President Ramaphosa and King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
Following the SCA ruling, and under the direct instruction of King Misuzulu, members of the Zulu Royal Family gathered on Thursday, 9 October 2025, at the King’s behest to discuss the implications of this pivotal judgment for the Royal House.
The meeting, overseen by the Deputy Traditional Prime Minister, Inkosi Phathisizwe Chiliza, and organized by His Majesty’s Private Office led by Mr. Squire Arnold Nododile, Chief Director and Private Secretary to the King, included representatives from various royal houses, amakhosi, izinduna, and key members of the royal lineage.
The main objectives of the meeting were to:
formulate the Zulu Royal House Committee, a formal entity to represent and execute decisions for the entire Royal Family;
Establish a definitive path towards unity and stability within the Royal House; and
Enhance internal governance aligned with His Majesty’s Private Office and the King’s Council.
The Royal Family unanimously agreed to reconvene on 29 October 2025 at Emashobeni Royal Palace to officially select and confirm members of the Zulu Royal House Committee, which will collaborate with the King’s Private Office on matters of heritage, governance, and family affairs.
Presentation of Resolutions to His Majesty the King
After their discussions, the Royal Family delegation proceeded to Emashobeni Royal Palace to present their resolutions and seek His Majesty’s endorsement.
Upon receiving the report, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini praised the Royal Family for their wisdom and sense of duty, approving the resolution to form a unified Royal House Committee.
His Majesty further instructed the family to engage with President Cyril Ramaphosa to express gratitude for the government’s ongoing recognition and partnership with the Zulu Monarchy amid a period of judicial uncertainty.

Address by His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini
During his address to the Royal Family, the King expressed humility along with determination, urging his family and the nation to resist the lure of triumphalism, and instead embrace reconciliation.
His Majesty emphasized, “BoNdaba, we still have much to accomplish in reuniting this family.
“Our mission remains unfinished until we are united, as we once were before some among us strayed from the truth they know.”
He continued, “I did not seek this throne; I was born into it. It is not a position that one can quit; it is a sacred duty I must fulfill with your support as the elders of this family.
“Among us exist those with political aspirations who prioritize their political interests over their royal heritage.
“We recognize them and we are aware of their presence.
“I urge you to filter out the distractions and concentrate your efforts on restoring harmony and rebuilding unity.”
The King underscored that division within an African family should not be celebrated and called upon all members to commit to collective healing and the preservation of the Zulu nation’s heritage and dignity.
King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has urged the Royal Family, amakhosi, and the Zulu nation as a whole to approach this moment with humility, wisdom, and a renewed dedication to unity.
His Majesty asserted that this is not a time for celebration, but rather a moment for healing and rebuilding.
The Zulu Monarchy continues to serve as a bastion of cultural identity, social cohesion, and moral leadership for the people of KwaZulu-Natal and beyond.
