Koeberg Life Extension: Enlit Africa 2026 to Highlight Africa’s Nuclear Future

Cape Town – Enlit Africa has unveiled a dedicated segment focused on nuclear energy within its 2026 conference agenda, emphasizing nuclear as a practical subject rather than a theoretical one. The focus will be on overcoming delivery barriers, readiness, and making informed real-world decisions.

The event is scheduled for 19–21 May 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa.

As nations and utilities strive to achieve a balance between energy security, cost-effectiveness, and decarbonization objectives, nuclear energy is increasingly being assessed in terms of practical implementation: including life extension, supply chain capabilities, regulatory preparedness, workforce skills, and integration with the grid.

Enlit Africa’s nuclear program is crafted to unite utilities, regulators, policymakers, technology suppliers, and financial stakeholders to discuss these essential practical elements.

The nuclear program will cover:

Koeberg life extension as a case study: insights on planning, execution, and operational readiness for extending the life of nuclear facilities.

New build readiness and procurement challenges: focusing on governance, sequencing, and the decision-making processes necessary to transition from intention to actual delivery.

Grid integration and system planning: exploring how nuclear energy contributes to broader system reliability, transmission strategies, and long-term capacity planning.

Supply chain, localization, and workforce skills: examining what is needed to establish sustainable delivery capabilities beyond individual projects.

“The dialogue is evolving from whether nuclear should be part of the energy mix to what is required for its responsible and successful implementation,” stated Claire Volkwyn, Head of Content for Power, Energy and Water at VUKA Group.

“We are organizing this content around execution: readiness, regulation, supply chain, skills, and system integration.”

Enlit Africa, established by VUKA Group, is part of a wider, delivery-centric agenda encompassing power and water infrastructure.
