In his eight years at Bristol City, he scored 45 goals in 283 games.

Significantly, he famously tore up his contract on February 3, 1982, to save the club from bankruptcy—putting the club’s welfare above his own career.

This act of selflessness established his legacy as a cherished figure in the history of Bristol City.

The club honored his memory with a heartfelt tribute on social media: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jimmy Mann at the age of 73. Rest in peace, Jimmy.”
