Before last night’s featherweight encounter, her last fight was in 2016, where she lost to Amanda Nunes in the first round.

Rousey, 39, achieved just that against Carano, forcing a submission early and boosting her record to 13-2-0.

This signified a perfect conclusion for the MMA icon, who expressed her wish to “rewrite” the closing chapter of her career prior to the match.

The event was categorized as a singular comeback, and Rousey later confirmed she has no plans to fight again.

After her emotional win, Rousey recognized Carano for being a pivotal figure in her MMA career.

Rousey expressed: “Gina is the person who introduced me to MMA.”

“She’s the only one who could bring me back. She’s my hero.”

Carano, now 44, was a trailblazer in women’s MMA and hadn’t competed professionally in 17 years.

Fans packed the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California to witness the highly anticipated bout, which became the first MMA event streamed live on Netflix.

The moment the bell rang, Rousey aimed for a takedown and quickly secured the armbar.

Carano laughed immediately after tapping out and then embraced Rousey at the center of the cage.

Rousey remarked: “There’s no way I could have ended it better than this.”

“I want to have more kids, so I need to get cooking.”

Rousey shares two daughters with her husband, retired MMA fighter Travis Browne, whom she married in 2017.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter La’akea, in 2021, and their second daughter, Liko’ula, arrived in 2025.
