During the peak of her career, she was rumoured to be one of the highest-paid actresses in South Africa. However, she disappeared from the spotlight in 2019.
EXPLOITATION ALLEGATIONS AGAINST FERGUSON FILMS
She hogged headlines when she took a swipe at Ferguson Films against their contract woes. No doubt their woes ended up making all sorts of headlines, from exploitation claims to social media wars.
Over the years, several actresses have accused Ferguson Films of exploitation, abuse and mistreatment of the cast. These daring allegations have often thrust Connie Ferguson into the top trends.
In 2019, Vatiswa Ndara wrote an open letter to the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa. The actress revealed that production companies were exploiting their cast.
The actress particularly mentioned Ferguson Films. Against her claims, several actors took to social media to share their stories. Keke Mphuthi opened up about her working relationship with the company.
She claimed that she lost her job after she revealed that she was pregnant. The production company ended her storyline despite assuring her she wouldn’t lose her job. Apart from The Throne, she also starred in Unmarried.
Against these daring allegations, Ferguson Films issued a press statement. “The allegations towards Ferguson Films are misguided, misdirected and misleading and can be seen as a ploy to defame and tarnish our name and reputation,” part of the statement reads.
Since her dramatic fallout with Ferguson Films, Vatiswa Ndara has yet to star in another big-budget drama series. However, she seemingly called it quits. Speaking during her book launch in 2023, she made it known that she won’t be making a return on small screens.
“It’s not easy. My mind is always in survival mode. How do I get through the next day? Have the conditions improved? What would I be going back to? So, no, it’s not going to happen. Plus, things are getting worse,” she said.

The actress has been keeping her life under wraps, leaving many to guess what she has been up to over the years. However, earlier this year, a close source to the actress revealed that she is ‘yearning’ for showbiz return.
She has been active on social media. Her last post was dated 5 August 2023. Rumour mill has it that she has been cashing in as host, motivational speaker, and her book. After all, she is a jill of all trades. She is also a celebrated radio host.
