Moscow’s Public Transport Takes Part in Victory Day Festivities
Moscow – The city’s public transportation system has a longstanding tradition of participating in events commemorating Victory Day.
This year, a variety of commemorative and themed activities have been organized for passengers within the Moscow Metro and at various public transportation venues.
To celebrate the occasion, employees of Moscow’s public transportation will distribute over 8,000 St. George ribbons—one of the key symbols of Victory.
These ribbons will be available at Live Communication kiosks in the metro, at the Northern and Southern River Terminals, as well as in street parking lots, special parking areas managed by Moscow Parking, and select routes of the city’s surface transit system.
Particular attention has been given to the decoration of the infrastructure.
The Trubnaya station has been adorned for Victory Day for the third consecutive year: the ceiling vault is decorated with St. George’s ribbons and artistic elements commemorating this significant date.
The themed decoration fosters a festive atmosphere for passengers and serves to remind everyone of the importance of this historic occasion.
Additionally, a special themed train honoring Victory Day has commenced operations on Line 3.
This train is designed with orange, red, and blue colors, symbolizing the bravery and unity of the people.
The train cars feature themed decorations and phrases dedicated to the Great Victory.
This train will continue to operate on the line until June 22.
“Every year, the capital’s transportation system takes part in Victory Day events,” remarked Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
“This year, our staff will hand out St. George’s ribbons at various points in the transportation infrastructure.
“We are also maintaining the tradition of decorating stations and introducing themed trains to honor the memories of our people’s heroic efforts and cultivate a unique atmosphere for passengers.”
During the holiday events, security measures will be heightened in public transportation.
Passengers are encouraged to be understanding of the increased security protocols, to stay vigilant, and to adhere to the regulations regarding public transportation use.
Victory Day, celebrated each year on May 9, stands as one of the most important national holidays in Russia, honoring the Soviet Union’s triumph over Nazi Germany in 1945 during World War II.
This day signifies the official conclusion of what is termed in Russia as the Great Patriotic War, a time of tremendous struggle, sacrifice, and resilience.
