ISCA Establishes Taskforce to Enhance Financial Reporting and Boost Investor Confidence

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 11 May 2026 – The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has introduced a new Taskforce aimed at enhancing financial reporting and boosting investor confidence in Singapore amidst an increasing emphasis on corporate transparency, robust financial controls, and trust within capital markets.

The Strengthening Financial Reporting Taskforce was officially launched today at the ISCA Value Unlock Forum, conducted in collaboration with Singapore Exchange (SGX). Chaired by Ms. Euleen Goh, ISCA Distinguished Lifetime Member and Chairman of Singapore Institute of Management Group Ltd, the Taskforce will convene leaders from various sectors including business, finance, academia, and investor groups to evaluate Singapore’s financial reporting landscape and suggest improvements for the quality, integrity, and utility of corporate reporting.

The Taskforce’s formation is timely as Singapore intensifies its efforts to enhance capital markets and the overall business environment. Recent national initiatives, such as the Accountancy Workforce Review Committee and the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Equities Market Review, have underscored the necessity of solid financial reporting, professional expertise, and investor trust.

This launch also coincides with ongoing deliberations on decreasing compliance burdens for smaller enterprises, highlighted by ACRA’s review of Singapore’s audit exemption framework. Regardless of the future iterations of this framework, maintaining strong financial reporting practices, capable finance professionals, and effective financial controls is crucial for preserving investor, lender, and stakeholder confidence.

The Taskforce will investigate how companies can enhance their communication regarding financial performance, business risks, and long-term value creation to investors and stakeholders. It will also assess how Singapore can maintain its high standards in governance, transparency, and accountability amid a rapidly changing business landscape.

Ms. Euleen Goh, Chairperson of the Strengthening Financial Reporting Taskforce, stated: “Financial reporting has always been the language of business. As markets evolve, it must convey clearer and more useful information to the stakeholders who depend on it. The Taskforce will conduct a thorough and practical examination of how Singapore can elevate its standards so that companies can communicate value and insights with the clarity and confidence desired by investors and the market.”

The Taskforce comprises prominent figures from the financial ecosystem:

  • Mr. Liew Nam Soon, Deputy Regional Managing Partner, EY Asia East; Managing Partner, EY Asean; Managing Partner, EY Singapore & Brunei
  • Mr. Leong Yung Chee, Group CFO, United Overseas Bank Limited
  • Professor Lawrence Loh, Director, Centre for Governance and Sustainability, NUS Business School, National University of Singapore

As Singapore’s national accountancy body, ISCA believes that well-trained finance and accounting professionals are essential to maintain trust in the business and capital markets. This Taskforce signifies our commitment to reinforcing Singapore’s position as a trusted global financial and business hub.”

ISCA Academy is dedicated to supporting the profession and the wider market by cultivating the practical capabilities necessary to bolster trust, enhance transparency, and strengthen confidence in Singapore’s capital markets.”
