Aon Names Masahito Hirai as CEO of Japan
In this capacity, Hirai will oversee Aon’s operations in Japan, responsible for formulating and implementing the company’s strategy, fostering sustainable growth, and ensuring exceptional client service delivery. He will report to Qin Lu, head of North Asia, and will be part of the North Asia leadership team.

With over 30 years of experience in the insurance sector, Hirai boasts substantial local and international leadership expertise. He has progressed at Tokio Marine in Japan and has held senior leadership positions across South America, North America, and Asia. Currently, he serves as CEO of the Asia Region for Tokio Marine, directing the firm’s Life and Non-Life operations across Southeast Asia and India.
Hirai is a highly regarded senior leader, known for successfully managing large, multi-market insurance operations through growth and transformation. He is recognized for building high-performing, collaborative teams and his disciplined approach to strategy, execution, and financial performance. His profound understanding of the Japan market and client-centered leadership style will bolster Aon’s continued growth in Japan.
