Police Seek Two Armed Women Featured in Viral Video

Pretoria – Authorities have apprehended suspects associated with firearms featured in a viral social media video where two women brandish guns at each other, pretending to shoot.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe reported that SAPS Gauteng Crime Intelligence initiated a tracing operation, resulting in the location and arrest of two suspects in Tembisa, Gauteng.

Brigadier Mathe disclosed that the arrested individuals, aged 21 and 34, were linked to the firearms, while the two women from the viral clip remain at large.

“The firearms depicted in the video were confiscated by law enforcement, and initial investigations indicate that they are unlicensed,” stated the police spokesperson.

“Additionally, the operation resulted in the suspects being found with a hijacked vehicle.”

Brigadier Mathe emphasized: “Investigations are ongoing to locate the women seen in the video recklessly handling the firearms.”

The suspects are set to appear in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court next week.

They are facing several charges, including violations of the Firearms Control Act, illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of a hijacked vehicle.

In the meantime, acting National Commissioner of SAPS, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, praised the Gauteng Crime Intelligence for their quick action in tracing the suspects linked to the firearms in the viral footage.

She remarked that the arrests serve as a stern warning against the reckless handling and display of firearms on social media, asserting that law enforcement will respond decisively to violations.

Authorities additionally cautioned the public against the irresponsible handling and display of firearms, as such actions pose serious risks to lives and constitute a significant criminal offense.
