R6 Million Dagga Seized: Toyota Quantum Stopped in Mpumalanga, Two Arrested
Graskop – Following a tip-off, authorities in Mpumalanga stopped a Quantum minibus taxi, leading to the discovery of an astonishing R6 million worth of packaged dagga and two arrests.
The dagga operation took place on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, outside Mashishing (formerly Lydenburg) when law enforcement deployed a patrol vehicle to monitor the suspects’ path.
Police identified the Quantum, trailed it for a short time before stopping it in Graskop.
Within the minibus taxi, officers found a substantial stash: approximately 1,025 kilograms of dagga, neatly concealed and poised for distribution.
Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe confirmed the arrest of two men aged 26 and 28.
“Charges of possession of dagga and dealing in dagga have been filed against the duo,” she stated.
Acting Mpumalanga Police Commissioner, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the officers involved in the operation, calling it a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the province.
The suspects are anticipated to appear in the Graskop Magistrate’s Court soon.
