Cardano Lace Wallet Update Arrives Ahead of Van Rossem Fork

Recent updates have been rolled out for Cardano’s Web3 wallet, Lace, as the network gears up for the upcoming Van Rossem hard fork.

Summary

  • Lace version 2.0.3 addressed issues related to migration, DApp connectivity, loading times, and legacy wallet performance.
  • Lace version 2.0.4 introduced new view mode options, auto-lock features, and language corrections.
  • The Van Rossem hard fork for Cardano is set to implement Protocol Version 11 in late June.

The recent 2.0 updates for the wallet emphasize streamlined migration, enhanced DApp access, and improved user experience.

With Lace 2.0, users can manage Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin within a single wallet interface, minimizing the need to switch between different wallets for asset management across various ecosystems.

Lace 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 enhance user access

Lace 2.0.3 resolved a white screen issue that had prevented some users from completing migrations and connecting to DApps. Additionally, it fixed problems with older wallets imported from Nami.

Lace 2.0.4 added a default view mode that enables users to toggle between Side Panel and Tab views. It also implemented an auto-lock timer and corrected missing Spanish and Japanese translations.

Furthermore, Cardano is getting ready for the Van Rossem hard fork, an intra-era upgrade to Protocol Version 11, which is anticipated to enhance Plutus performance, improve ledger consistency, and bolster node-level security.

A pre-release of Cardano Node 11.0.1 is required for a smooth transition during the hard fork. Stake pool operators and developers on the preview are advised to upgrade before the mainnet launch.

Network upgrade ensures minimal disruption

The Van Rossem upgrade will not transition Cardano into a new era, which is significant as transaction formats will remain unchanged, reducing the workload for wallets, DApps, and exchanges.

The date to keep an eye on is “late June 2026,” although the rollout will still depend on readiness and governance procedures.
