Premier League Winning Manager Set to Leave Club After Confrontation with Owner
CLAUDIO RANIERI is set to leave his role as Roma’s senior advisor after a disagreement with manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
The 74-year-old returned to the club he loves, the Giallorossi, for the third time in 2024 as head coach, guiding them to a fifth-place finish, just one point away from Champions League qualification.

After the season wrapped up, the Italian coach took up his new role, reportedly turning down the opportunity to become Italy’s head coach to assist club owner Daniel Friedkin.
The former Leicester City manager’s contributions were crucial, even playing a key role in hiring Gasperini, 68.
However, as reported by The Mail, a conflict has arisen between the two experienced Italian coaches, resulting in them ignoring one another at the Serie A club’s training facilities.
This tension emerged after Ranieri gave a controversial interview earlier this month, implying that the ex-Atalanta manager was the club’s fourth choice for the role.

The former Inter Milan manager defended the team’s transfer activities after Gasperini appeared to agree that the squad had not been adequately strengthened.
Ranieri stated on DAZN: “Not one player arrived without his [Gasperini’s] approval.
“[Jan] Ziolkowski, [Lorenzo] Venturino, [Bryan] Zaragoza— we attempted to provide the manager with a squad that came within a point of Champions League qualification last season, in addition to some players he could aid in their development.
“If I’m consulted again, I’ll continue. Otherwise, I can also take a step back.

“I love Roma, and I am willing to step down as senior advisor, just as I have done before as coach.”
There are strong signs that Ranieri will be parting ways with the club shortly.
This comes during the same week that Leicester, the club Ranieri cherishes, has been relegated to League One.
Ranieri was instrumental in orchestrating the Foxes’ stunning 5,000-1 Premier League win a decade ago.
However, Leicester has now slipped to the third division following consecutive relegations.
