Two Men Arrested in North West and Limpopo for Possession of Illegal Firearms
A 40-year-old man was apprehended in Ikageng, near Potchefstroom, after authorities discovered him with an unregistered rifle and a replica pistol.
The arrest took place on Friday during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit in partnership with Crime Intelligence.

According to police spokesperson Kelebogile Morake, the operation was initiated based on information received from North West Crime Intelligence.
“An intelligence-led operation was subsequently carried out by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit in collaboration with North West Crime Intelligence Covert Operations,” Morake stated.

The search resulted in the confiscation of a rifle complete with a magazine, a replica blow pistol, and a magazine filled with blank rounds. Ammunition for both weapons was also seized.
Morake mentioned that it remains unclear whether the firearms were involved in any criminal activities, noting they have been secured for further investigation.
The suspect is slated to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court.
Second Arrest in Musina Tied to Robbery Investigations
In an unrelated case in Limpopo, a 41-year-old man was detained in the Vhembe District after being found with an unlicensed firearm.

Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba indicated that officers searched the suspect’s home in Musina, recovering a silver pistol, a magazine, and live ammunition.
“Authorities are also exploring potential connections between the suspect and multiple robbery cases reported within the Musina policing area,” Mashaba noted.
