When is the London Marathon 2027?

The race for next year is scheduled for Sunday, April 25, 2027.

However, organizers are contemplating a major change: hosting the marathon over two days starting in 2027.

This shift could allow many more participants in the UK’s leading marathon, as only five percent of the record 1.1 million applicants are running today.

This signifies a 36 percent increase in applicants from last year, prompting organizers to seek ways to accommodate a larger field.

How can I enter the London Marathon 2027?

The main way to enter the London Marathon is through the public ballot, which opened on Friday, April 24.

You can find it on the official London Marathon Events website.

Entries are selected randomly, with winners drawn at chance.

Successful applicants will receive an email when the results are released next month.

Applicants can choose the “double your chances” option, which allows them entry into a second ballot if they do not succeed the first time.

With only a 1.5% chance of securing a place via the ballot, exploring alternative entry methods could be beneficial.

Many UK charities have their own application processes, with charity runners usually committing to raise a minimum sponsorship in return for their entry.

Each charity sets its own registration fee, fundraising target, and application deadline, so it’s best to consult directly with your chosen organization.

You can find a complete list of charities on the event’s official webpage dedicated to this purpose.

Alternatively, faster club-level runners may qualify for a Good For Age entry.

However, proof of achieving the required time on a certified course is typically necessary; merely meeting the target does not guarantee a spot.
