Former Premier League player Stephen Ireland was quickly taken to the hospital after suffering a serious injury during the Veterans Cup final.
The 39-year-old was playing for Wythenshawe FC Vets when the incident took place against South Liverpool.
The match was immediately stopped following the alarming incident.

He was later transported to the hospital, leading to the match being called off.
His wife, Jess, provided an emotional update after the incident.
She expressed her gratitude, stating: “Thank you to everyone at the game today who helped in any way. It was a deeply distressing and unexpected moment, but the care and support shown made a significant impact.
“We are incredibly thankful not only to the Wythenshawe FC fans but also to South Liverpool Vets and everyone from Warrington Rylands: you were amazing.”

Wythenshawe Vets also released a statement expressing their support.
It mentioned: “Stephen is genuinely touched and extremely grateful for the outpouring of support following today’s incident in the Veterans Finals.
“A special thanks goes to the paramedics and ambulance team from Warrington Hospital for their prompt and professional care.
“In true Stephen style: ‘Superman will return.’ We’re all here for you, Stephen, wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.”
Ireland had an extensive career at the highest level, totaling 246 Premier League appearances for Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Stoke.
He also earned six caps for the Republic of Ireland during his professional career.
Recently, he has been a part of Wythenshawe Vets’ popular over-35s squad alongside several former Premier League stars.
