Treble Buzz: Pirates Declare Final Home Game Sold Out as Title Fever Sweeps Soweto
The Orlando Pirates have confirmed that their final home league game of the season, which could potentially crown them as Betway Premiership champions, has officially sold out in anticipation of this weekend’s match.
In a fierce title race against Mamelodi Sundowns, the Pirates will face off against Durban City—current winners of the Nedbank Cup—this Saturday at Orlando Stadium.
Supporters have enthusiastically purchased tickets, eager to see the Pirates clinch the league title at home for the first time since the 2010/11 season when they defeated Golden Arrows.
At that time, the Pirates were competing for the title against Ajax Cape Town, who failed to secure a win against Maritzburg United—now known as Durban City—at Cape Town Stadium.
On Saturday, the Pirates could secure the league title if Sundowns fail to achieve a maximum result in their last match against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday.

Sundowns currently lead the league with 68 points from 29 matches, while Pirates are in second place with 65 points and two games in hand. Notably, the Soweto giants boast a superior goal difference of +44 compared to Sundowns’ +37.
This means Sundowns, who recently achieved a stunning 7-4 victory over Siwelele at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, would need a convincing win against Galaxy while hoping Pirates falter in their last two matches.
However, the momentum appears to be favoring Pirates, who have scored five goals in their last two games without allowing any goals against.
If the Pirates secure the title, it will be their first league championship since the 2011/12 season, marking a momentous treble.
The Buccaneers also have an opportunity to complete another treble this season, having already won the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Sundowns have been the dominant force in the league for the past eight seasons, claiming every title since the 2017/18 campaign after succeeding Bidvest Wits as champions.
