Police Implement Zero Tolerance Policy in Crackdown on Xenophobia Offenders
The Police Ministry of South Africa has issued a stern warning in light of recent assaults on Ghanaian nationals and other expatriates, classifying these actions as intolerable and illegal.
Acting Police Minister, Firoz Cachalia, denounced the violence, which has involved acts of intimidation and looting, stating that such behaviors jeopardize both the rule of law and the fundamental principles of the nation’s constitution.

Authorities have confirmed that law enforcement agencies have been ordered to take decisive action, with those engaging in violence or incitement expected to be arrested.
Police Action Against Xenophobic Violence Intensifies
The ministry emphasized that no person or group has the authority to take the law into their own hands, irrespective of their grievances or frustrations.
The police are on high alert to identify and respond to offenders, part of a broader effort to avert further unrest and ensure accountability.
Kamogelo Mogotsi, spokesperson for the police ministry, stated: “Anyone participating in, inciting, or supporting such criminal activities will be identified, apprehended, and brought to justice.”
