Limpopo Bus Collision Claims Lives of Four Women
Sekgopo – A tragic bus accident on the R81 road in Sekgopo, Mopani District, Limpopo has led to the deaths of four women.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety reported that the incident took place late on the evening of Saturday, 9 August 2025.
Initial investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the bus, causing it to overturn.
“Unfortunately, four women were pronounced dead at the scene,” stated the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety.
“Eight passengers suffered serious to moderate injuries, while 45 others, including the bus driver, sustained minor injuries.
“All injured passengers were promptly transported to Kgapane Hospital, Mankweng Hospital, and Van Velden Hospital for urgent medical treatment.”
The precise cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
“We express our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of those who have passed away,” remarked Transport and Community Safety MEC Mme Susana Violet Mathye.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this profoundly difficult time.
“We also wish all the injured a full and swift recovery.
“In light of this tragic event, we implore all road users, especially public transport operators, to exercise utmost caution, adhere strictly to traffic regulations, and prioritize the safety of all passengers.”
The MEC emphasized: “Let us unite in efforts to ensure that every journey concludes with the safe arrival of all travelers.”
