HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 6 May 2026 – Join the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (CCOHK) for the Hong Kong premiere of Anoushka Shankar – Chapters conducted by Robert Ames. Continuing her father Ravi Shankar’s legacy, the multi-Grammy-nominated sitar virtuoso and composer is pushing new frontiers in Indian classical music. Chapters, a collaboration between BBC Proms, De Singel, and CCOHK, is inspired by Anoushka’s trilogy of albums including “Forever, For Now,” “How Dark It Is Before Dawn,” and “We Return to Light,” mapping her personal and artistic journey. The work debuted at the BBC Proms in July 2025, showcasing a transformative orchestral experience featuring both sitar and orchestra.

Anaoushka Shankar, a seven-time Grammy nominee, is celebrated as “a visionary artist who redefines the boundaries of the sitar for the 21st century.” Following in her father’s footsteps, her compositions intricately blend Indian classical with Western orchestral traditions. Beyond her solo work, Shankar has extensively composed for films, dance, and orchestras, merging tradition with innovation.
