Alert: Violent Murder Suspect Tumelo Raledi Escapes from Custody
Polokwane – Authorities in Namakgale have initiated a thorough manhunt following the escape of a 34-year-old male crime suspect, Tumelo Raledi, from lawful custody on Sunday, 26 April 2026.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, Raledi escaped around 21:30 while receiving medical treatment at Maphuta Malatji Hospital in the Mopani District.
At the time of his escape, Raledi was under police surveillance at the medical facility.
“Tumelo Raledi is regarded as dangerous and was apprehended for serious violent offenses, including rape, attempted murder, and two counts of murder, allegedly committed between 2023 and 2025 in the Namakgale policing area,” stated Brigadier Mashaba.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has denounced the incident and assured the public that all available resources are being deployed to ensure the suspect is recaptured promptly.
Investigations by the police are ongoing.
