SA Post Office to Cease Postbank Services Starting Saturday
Johannesburg – The South African Post Office (SAPO) has revealed that it will cease processing Postbank transactions and related support services.
In a brief announcement today, Thursday, 30 April 2026, SAPO stated, “Effective Saturday, 2 May 2026, all Postbank-related transactions and support services will be discontinued at any SAPO branch.”
The announcement, made on behalf of the Joint South African Post Office Business Rescue Practitioners, Anoosh Rooplal and Juanito Damons, clarified that this decision comes after the expiration of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) between SAPO and Postbank.
The SLA concluded on 31 March 2026, after which Postbank opted not to enter into a new agreement with SAPO.
“SAPO respectfully requests that Postbank customers refrain from visiting Post Office branches for any banking services, as our staff will unfortunately be unable to assist with these transactions,” the statement indicated.
Postbank customers are urged to utilize designated service channels and platforms for all their banking requirements.
For assistance, customers are advised to reach out to Postbank directly through the following official channels:
