Phong Le: Strategy Goes Beyond Just Bitcoin Balances

CEO Phong Le emphasized that the company’s achievements are based on more than just the Bitcoin it holds.
Summary
- Strategy reported a 11.9% increase in Q1 revenue, reaching $124.3 million.
- Phong Le highlighted a remarkable 59% growth in cloud revenue during the company’s strongest software quarter in years.
- Scrutiny surrounds Strategy’s Bitcoin model as debt and losses continue to rise.
In a post on X, he asserted that the enterprise software division is integral to the company’s long-term strategy.
Le noted that this software unit provides Strategy with engineers, cloud teams, enterprise clients, compliance systems, and global operations that many digital asset firms lack. The central assertion, “Strategy’s success is rooted in more than Bitcoin,” hinges on the growth of the software business, even as Bitcoin garners the bulk of investor focus.
Q1 Software Growth Supports Bitcoin Expenses
Strategy disclosed total Q1 2026 revenue of $124.3 million, an 11.9% rise from $111.1 million year-over-year. The company’s gross profit stood at $83.4 million, with a 67.1% gross margin.
Le indicated that Q1 represented the strongest software quarter in the past decade, underpinned by 12% revenue growth and a 59% surge in cloud revenue. He also stated that the controllable margin increased by 27%, which contributed to financing Bitcoin operating costs.
This update comes as questions arise regarding Strategy’s Bitcoin approach, as the company reported a Q1 net loss of $12.54 billion, a significant increase compared to a $4.22 billion loss during the same period last year.
As reported by Crypto.news, Strategy raised $25.3 billion in 2025 to enhance its Bitcoin treasury strategy, alongside Phong Le’s commitment to expanding STRC for Bitcoin per share growth.
Strategy Embraces AI and Enterprise Data
Le mentioned that Strategy has developed an AI data foundation named Mosaic, which integrates large language models, hyperscalers, and data warehouses into a secure enterprise data layer.
He also noted that the company is revamping its internal systems with AI, anticipating further automation of workflows.
For Strategy, the message is clear: the software segment is not merely a legacy operation but a crucial aspect of its case for maintaining an institutional-grade Bitcoin treasury model.
