The Dance Culture of the Moscow Metro
Moscow – A new thematic exhibition celebrating the iconic Igor Moiseyev State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble has been unveiled in the Moscow Metro.
This exhibition can be found in the corridor linking Dinamo station on Line 2 to Petrovsky Park station on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line.
Visitors will have the opportunity to delve into the artistic legacy of the remarkable choreographer and founder, Igor Alexandrovich Moiseyev, and discover the ensemble’s distinctive style, which has become emblematic of Russian dance culture on a global stage.
Igor Moiseyev (21 January 1906 – 2 November 2007) was a Soviet and Russian choreographer and ballet master renowned for transforming folk dance into a sophisticated theatrical form recognized around the world.
The exhibition includes 30 display panels adorned with striking photographs of the ensemble’s performances, featuring:
- A suite of traditional Russian dances
- The legendary “Yablochko”
- Chinese ribbon dance
- “Polovtsian Dances”
- Argentine gaucho dance
This exhibition will be accessible until May 11, inclusive.
The initiative is part of the Moscow Metro’s cultural program, designed to familiarize passengers with remarkable achievements in national art.
